no spark companion cylinder then no start
a couple days ago I started to have a misfire on my 96 2.8 12v. I pulled the plug wires off the coil and the companion cylinders for 2 & 4 both had no spark so that led me to believe that the coil was bad. I bought a new coil pack and am still waiting for the part to arrive however the car has no spark anymore at any cylinders. could I be looking at an ignition control module now as well or is it possible that the other 2 coils just happened to go bad shortly after? all wires and connectors are in good condition and an oscilloscope shows the computer is getting inputs and sending output signals. has anyone had anything similar to this happen?

I just went to check the codes to see if there was anything else new after cranking it for a bit and now it wont even connect the the computer. I also don't believe I hear the fuel pump turning on. now im leaning towards ignition switch.

ok so I was looking at the icm and before it was a small box that the previous owner had installed with a dial for min-max. when I read the back, it said performance chip. took that "performance" chip out and rewired everything correctly and car started right up. something must have failed in the potentiometer part of that chip causing no signal on a part of the circuit. damn ebay performance parts. still no spark on cylinder 2 & 4 so a new coil will replace that one.
