No power to my fuel pump - Need help fast
Hey guys. I bought a 2k a4 on these forums as a fixxer upper. I'm finally getting it fixed now but I'm having one main issue. There is no power in the fuse box for my fuel pump. The guy at the body shop was able to get it running and keep it running by running a power wire from the battery to the fuel pump fuse. What is the problem? I have a complete 97 a4 as a parts car (bad motor) so I can get the parts but I'm not sure where to start.
If it makes a difference, the 2k was damaged in the front. The guy at the shop thought it might have a fuel shut off switch activated by a font end collision, but I don't know about that.

Agreed - that and the fuel pump relay are the only components between the battery and the pump. The relay is possible but of the two I'd think the switch is more likely. Turn the key on and see if any other ignition-switched components (lights, radio, wipers, etc) work. That can help you confirm or reject it.

What else can I try? If it were the pump relay where would it be located?

You have to drop down the knee bolster (driver side) to get to the relay, I cant remember the position for the FP relay tho.
I do not personally have much experience with the ignition switch on our cars, but I do on bikes and stuff. And on them, it will allow the accessories to kick on but will not prime the fuel pump, if say the diode is bad or something. Not the same Jeremy?

When mine failed, I lost the majority of my ignition-switched features. If I remember right, the FP relay is number 372 under the driver side of the dash. I had a thread when my pump failed. It was called something like "weird sh*t when troubleshooting my car". That info and more is in that thread.
