No hot air!

No hot air!
Just got my car together and almost froze to death today. I removed the old bad ac condensor and havent put one back in, so the car runs way cooler than normal now. Wouldnt even get past the first notch unless I was sitting still. So, while I was at the bar, I got some napkins and some tape and blocked off half the rad. Well the engine warmed up to the halfway mark, but still no heat. wtf.
The gauge is engine coolant temp correct? My radiator sensor is broke, so I have a light and a code of coolant temp sensor. Is that just for an engine input?
Thermostat could be stuck open, the engine should warm up as regular with a more efficient radiator right? Coolant doesnt flow much until the engine is warmed up right????
What the hell no heat....im dying. hands numb on wheel. thank god for the heated seats.

RE: No hot air!
Well, from the extra flow to the radiator, my car spit out a p0116 code for the coolant temp sensor. Apparently the car went into warm up mode or limp mode and was throwing in a bunch of fuel. Mileage was terrible and got some codes for misfires. Today I put a peice of cardboard over the radiator, my long term fix I dont need ac. Reset the codes and drove the car 5 miles. No codes came up. But still no heat.
The radiator sensor is a fan switch, which I dont need anyway. I guess it hasnt nothing to do with anything else except the fan, so it shouldnt be limiting anything.
Coolant lines running in and out of the heater core are warm. Air blows but no heat. The display also blinks and changes the fan speed on its own. Is this normal?

I just had an issue with no heat...drove with it for a while, but when I saw sub-zero temperatures coming in, I gave in and brought it to the dealership...$2000, a heater core, and a thermostat later my heat works great...hopefully you don't have the same problem...

Yes I would definitely check out the thermostat. Its suppose to hold back the water till it heats up to a certain temperature then it will circulate it through the system which is what warms it. Sounds like your problem. Possibly bubbles in your system? have you tried bleeding it? heater core should be your last resort

time for a new girlfriend ..... that should get you enough hot air. After that check the thermostat. Could be heater core as well and would be easier to check than thermo, but it's more likely to be the thermo.
