Default no fuel 2000 A4 wagon 267,899 miles

this is my 2nd post first was below i post in new members intro, since then i found the radio code written down in spare tire compartment, so radio is working,

next took fuel pump cover to listen for sound and could hear none, could tell no service or pump has never been replaced checked for voltage and could only see it on one pin, after removing holes and cap pilled off wire plugs inside of tank, to see which ones went to pump,, jumped them with 12 v and pump sounded as if it will run but no fuel came out of open lines , wanted to try this befor removing fuel pump and basket, i know this might not be safe but should i have gotten sprayed with gas? and can a pump run and still not be working or could the screen/filter be that pluged? am planning to check fues #28 today to see if it has volts thx for any info, paul

have just gotten a audi a4 awd wagon with over 260,000 , was told fuel pump seemed to be out and the got it to fire up with starter fluid, so i tried it befor paying and just got a back fire, after getting the car home i have checked for sound coming from tank and listened around fuel tank without hearing any thing. This is the first Audi for me so have been search google for answers , one thing is battery was drained and symphony II radio sais SAFE thinking this might be the answer ie anti-theft for the no start found out about radio safe-mode,, no manual or code card but did find radio removal key in the spare tire compartment,,have yet to pull radio to see if code might be on radio,, thats what has got me here ,, searching to see if i could pull plugs and find out if im getting spark i stumbled on the this form about the yellow car shut down safey (anti-theif) so im making my first post to be able to study to see if this is part of my problem ?

my name is paul and i live in salem indiana ,, thx for this form!

Change the filter first. It probably was never done because its a pain in the ***. Try that and see if it runs. If not, the clogged filter may have burned up the pump.

You can find a write-up here. If you're like most people, the bolt through the fuel filter bracket will be seized. I was able to cut through the bolt with a sawzall. I just used a zip-tie to hold the bracket closed.

Default fuel pump is replaced

wow, my ebay seller was great he had the below 50 buck TRE-430 Stock OEM Replacment Fuel Pump Direct Fit to me in 2-days no shipping fees and priority mail usps, the pump was just what it needed as soon as i got it installed turned the switch and heard the sweet sound hum around 2-3 sec. so then went to start and dead battery, lol so charged 30 mins and hit it with starter fluid acouple time to get it running, but didnt want to keep going without intake hose hooked up , plus havent replaced filter yet but have in hand, will replace tomorrow.
so off for a test drive seemed great for having so many mile on her 260,000 plus adding 8 new miles from me, but have "ABS lit-up and brake light flashing" fluid level seems fine so im off to search forums,,,,,

Hoping this is the fix> http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articl...eshooting.html

yes it was a pain the torx was striped out at least looked like it should have been a t-40 so just cut strap and new filter had lip on top-side,, after fail on tighting lines got to redo them again, have the smell of gas on the brain but it is over and no more leaks,, plus hope it helps new pump last 268,000 miles,,,
