New Turbo, do I need a new oil pump?
I just bought my first audi, its a 98 A4 quattro 1.8T. It had a bad turbo when I bought it so I replaced the turbo (KO3) and 400 miles later my oil pump gave out, replaced the oil pump, let it idol for less then 5 mins and my turbo blew, 3 qts of oil is now in my exhaust and is blowing white smoke. someone told me I have to replace the oil pump the same time as the turbo and thenew oil pump I put in I have to replace because the car was idoling with it in, so the oil pump has to be untouched when I put in my new turbo I'm getting. I want a second opinion.
Thanks

that opinion is wayyyy dumb. generally, people replace the oil supply line with a new a turbo. the old one will have deposits and **** in it, and the idea is to replace the line so it doesnt put junk in the new turbo.
how do you know the oil pump gave out? it is highly highly unlikely to go out. because they are so critical, they have been overengineered in modern cars to last longer than anything else. however, audi's typically have problems with engine sludge which can clog the oil pickup tub and cause low pressure
