Default New torbo, no boost

Got a new turbo on my '97 1.8t and the boost gauge shows I have vac pressure but no boost. It is very low on power. I don't have any check engine lights on either. The only thing I noticed after I ran it a mile or so was the bolt on the top right if the turbo (the one with the hole in it) has a little bit of air coming out of it. Any ideas? Its still smoking pretty bad from the exhaust but I think that's just all the oil from when the first one blew. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

Are you talking about the little nipple on the top? There shouldn't be any unaccounted for air coming directly from the turbo. Check to make sure that everything is hooked up and hooked up correctly. Check the wastegate to n75, n75 to turbo. Also, have you checked to see if you are in limp mode?

You mean the banjo for the coolant? You need to get it in there properly, there shouldn't be air coming out of it AT ALL. sounds like you have to bleed the cooling system too.

when installing the wastegate how much of an opening should I have left in it? Should I leave it open a tiny bit to allow air flow thru or have it all the way closed?

Got the wastegate closed and shes runs a heck of a lot better. Not really impressed with the acceleration but she handles like a dream! Thanks for all of your help!
