Your name, Kamil sounds very familiar. Did you come to the Meets, ImTheDevil hosted along with Bill that owns the B5 passat? I went to 2 of them. one was at Bill's house and the other was at a camp site with a bon fire in upstate new york.
No sir I haven't been around that long.

I have a 2.7t to find and twincharge before I can even earn an invite to a meet!

Thanks all - the lady that owned this before me did the timing belt, water pump and everything at 59K mile 2.5 years ago so I am down to the valve cover gaskets and related oil sealing bits. I will def check the crankcase breathing parts. I love the whole feel of this 12 year old car.

Do NOT take her word for it, if she doesn't show you maintenance records or receipts of work done, then assume it hasn't been done. You'll be glad you did for piece of mind or sorry you didn't, if your belt snapps and your pistons go by by.

She could have gotten a alternator belt replaced and she thinks it was the timing belt. Also, there are many things that need to be replaced, along with the timing belt.

thermostat,water pump,idlers,rollers, serpentine belt tensioner/damper, and there are a few i missed.

Right - I have the records from the shop she used. They are known to be reputable. They did all the accompanying work with the timing belts ($1550)

I don't know if the lady did, but if she didn't, change the fuel filter. Its cheap and its easy to change. All you have to do is loosen one bolt and there you go.
