Alright as it is right now my car has 298 000 + kms on the engine and body
the car has always done 4900 to 5200 rpm's at around 120 - 125 km/h or around 62-70 m/h. I've owned the car for 2 years and ive heard that the car is supposed to do it, talked to someone who owns one in town he says his is at 2500 rpm?
so if anyone can help me here it would be awesome
clutch? diff? or tranny?

the 2.8's have taller gears then 1.8t's. its due to having more torque in the lower RPM range.
maybe in 4th gear you are at 5200rpm @ 70mph, my 1.8t in 5th at 70mph is somewhere around 3200 RPMs. on a 2.8 transmission it would be around 2800-2900 RPMs. the kid you talked to who said 2500 was probably low-balling it by a few hundred but thats a lot closer then 5200. you couldnt be at 5200rpm in 5th gear unless you are doing 110+ mph.

nope my car only has 5 gears and have searched for a 6th gear but it ends up being reverse.
idk what the hell is wrong with it but it guzzles gas like the exxon valdeze
but it doesnt burn any oil. im not sure if my clutch is slipping because ive tried the 5th gear stalling routine but it just stalls instantly. The only other thing i can think of is that someone replaced the tranny or had it repaired ( with the wrong gears ) or even the rear diff prior to me having the keys. I've taken it to volkswagen here in town, they say they know nothing because its an Audi not a VW ( bullshit i said ) and every one else around town hasn't the slightest clue as to whats wrong with it. Hope someone on here has somewhat of an idea as to how to fix the stupid thing.
