new forge 004 owner, question.

Yes and no.
Here is the DV setup:
That long rubber pipe pipe you can delete, and also get rid of the plastic L (mine was broken and I as you can see replaced it) Then just put a 1 inch pipe plug in the intake boot, clamp it down and your good to go. Enjoy the backfires they scare women and children

You're right about the hose that needs deleting, but IIRC the forge 004 is a BOV and seeing that your car is a 98 and runs of a MAF sensor, i dont think your car would run right since the car will be seeing more air intake than its actually getting since the air isnt recirculated.

Ya the 004 is a blow off, its bad for our cars.
If you want the blow off sound, got to www.ecstuning.com select ur car at the top and find the forge splitter. That will recirculate the air but blow off enough air to get the sound, while keeping your car healthy. I think the correct setting is 25clicks (its adjustable). The 004 is useless to you.

Oh god WHY IS THE DV INSTALLED BACKWARDS D:
Yeah I missed that completely.
The side holds the boost and exits out of the "bottom". My bet is you have been bleeding boost out of there back into the intake and making a slow car slower
Flip it and take it for a spin.
I have a turbo XS RMFL BOVVV
(not kidding)
I do get that SPOOSSSH
HHTTTT, and it turns heads all the time. It really is fun.
MAF + BOV = fail
MAP + BOV = win
And yes when I had my maf, it ran like ***. Your MPGs will plummet, you do get a stutter/hesitation/pop thingy after shifting, and yeah for no reason it backfires when id decel in any random gear. But im 01, so I can just run it mafless, and avoid those issues. Install it, and if you dont like it, well you have the original hardware!
Yes your right about the hose, and in your picture you can't see it too well. In all honesty you dont HAVE to delete it (as long as its capped), but it frees up just that much more space under there.
The thing about a splitt-r is it still vents air. Period. Sure it doesnt vent all the air, but your still loosing performance so you get the wooshing noise. The car is expecting all of that air, so no matter now little of an amount you vent, its still being lost, and inducing a rich condition.
I worked on SICK_B5s car before, and he has the 007 DV with a cone filter and DIY heatshield, and you can hear it recirculate almost as well as a BOV. Its not as agressive, but yeah its definately there

I have the 710n on with the cone filter and get the BOV sound. Its not loud or aggressive but it is still there. it is a nice subtle BOV sound. Works great.
