New Europlate
#22
VA has the same stupid law. It's not illegal to have the europlate on your car.
But if your state requires to plates, not having one becomes the problem, where you could get a ticket. I've managed in the past to get away with it, and lots of corvette owners I know don't have front plates. VA has an interesting front plate law because the actual law section reads that the plate must be within 15 inchs of the front of the vehicle. I actually mounted the plate on my Trans Am up on the air dam under the bumper, you could just barely see if, but it was 100% legal. I actually got stopped once over it at the beach by several bike cops who checked the law, where baffled and then let me go.
So do your research, determine what you're willing to do. There is another guy here in Va Beach who has a europlate and has his front plate zip tied just like you.
I'm just going to run without. No front plate isn't a moving violation, so whats a 35 dollar fine.
The other factor is, if you race around you might draw more attention to yourself. I don't look like a thug, so cops don't ever notice me.

ya i know what you mean by that...the only reason my front plate is zip tied is because when i got the s4 front bumper it didnt have the license plate frame and i didnt wanna drill holes in it, but ill see if i find the law on front plates up here in NY if i can have it just showing the numbers/letters ill bend it and fit it into one of the grill areas and then mount the euro where it should be!

A little Ohio fun... If you read this you may see where what I plan on doing to my plates... And search online you also may find a "loophole" in your states law! But be sure of your sources and plan on being pulled over to enplane yourself!

The only thing I didn't see clarified was "The dimensions of the numerals or letters and of each stroke shall be determined by the director of public safety."
Otherwise, I'd print all that out and keep it in the glovebox
I am fortunate to live in a state without front plates.

I just skimmed the last bit, but it looks like you're good if you have the numbers, the state name, the slogan and the sticker (if applicable) and it's made of similar "reflective" materials.

Now I do plan on getting pulled over that's almost a given. Why? Because I can bet that most cops wont know that it acceptable. So yeah I might be inconvenienced once in awhile. But some slick looking Euro all around will be worth it... Now its just the fact of finding a trunk lid!

You pretty much nailed it but that is for front and rear plates! I'm working on getting a euro trunk. Then going full Euro plates! I'll keep DMV issued plates in the car incase of questions but yep no where does it state it has ot be the plate issued by the DMV just matching #'s county and exp. sticker and "Birth Place of Aviation"

A little off topic but...
My car is registered in MA where front plates are required. I'll soon have my car exclusively in NC, but using MA plates. I'm pretty sure I'd be safe running without the tacky front plate, but what do you guys think?

Well I live right next to the NC line in VA Beach and frequent OBX a bit, and I think NC requires front plates too, as I always see people with them.
On a side note, my Plate which I ordered the other day is schedule to arrive on Tuesday. I order my S5 LED headlamps on Monday and those F*ers are coming from CA and won't be here till Friday. I hate eBay for the reason that most sellers rip you off 100% on shipping. Charged me 44 dollars to ship a 13lbs package the slowest method possible. FedEx says it would cost $20.11 Flat Rate is always BS. GRRR. When I get the plate I'll post up pictures and let you know about the quality. I only got the free universal frame.
