- the release point to the clutch pedal is really high, it doesnt grab gear until you basically are letting go of the clutch, all the way to the top. Once i get out of first and im giving it gas, the car isnt moving anywhere, it kind of glides and the rpms rise really high and then go down and then the car moves. when i go into 2nd gear , 3rd, 4th, it does the same thing for all of them. and the rpms go all the way up and then down and then grabs. idk whats going on. I have a 2001 audi a4 1.8t and i thought the clutch was going bad so i replaced it. it still is having the same problem, what can it be?

I just had my clutch & flywheel replaced and it's engaging really high too. There's a 1,500 mile "break-in" period, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

 

I don't think the break in has anything to do with it. Had a clutch and flywheel installed, clutch engaged extremely early and felt great.

 

I thought that might be the case. I need to look into my install.
