New B5 A4 Owner!!!
Hey everyone,
Finalised the deal today and drove home my new (used) 2000 A4 1.8T quattro sedan. The car has 30k miles on it, has the 5 speed manual, sport package (sport suspension, 10-spoke wheels) and the cold weather package (ski sack, heated seats), this is an A4 forum, you know all this anyway.
The car is being used mainly as a ski-trip vehicle, mostly on drives from Vancouver to Whistler but also on the occasional foray into the interior of BC and the Rockies.
As is, I have one question. I've found a set of winter wheels/tires on Craigs locally for a really good price. They're 16x7.5 (I think) factory wheels from a B6 A4, the 5-spoke ones. The tires are 215-60-16. With the stock size being 205-55-16, the winter package is definitely taller. I'm kind of into the beefy tire look, considering this is a ski vehicle and all. The main question is, will they rub? As mentioned above, suspension is stock sport suspension on a B5 A4. All input is appreciated.

Dont take this the wrong way... but where the hell did you find a 2000 with 30k miles on it?!?!
This the second time someone has posted on this forum where they purchased an 00-01 with >50k on it!
I thought i was lucky finding one with 95k on the clock when purchased.
regardless - grats, take care of it

Nope, no forgotten zeros, the car legit has 30k miles on it. Well, 50k kms because I'm up in Canuckistan, but I digress. I spent about 2 months searching after my last car got totalled, found it at a sketchy little dealership in one of the suburbs. Car was originally from my part of town though.
Needs some new hoses and such due to age but otherwise is minty fresh, especially the interior. Since it never gets colder than about 20-25 F (-5C) should I be ok with 5w-40? Or would 0w-40 be a better bet?

Also I read through a lot of the owner's manual yesterday and figured out most of the trip computer system and how to change setting and stuff. However, I couldn't figure out how to dim the instrument panel, it's way too bright for my liking right now. So how do I do this?

So that would be the "test" ****, on the left side? And turned while in the neutral position, not pushed in or pulled out? And yeah my LCD works, has a few lines of burned out pixels, hopin it holds on haha

Now that I'm thinking about it, I can't remember if it's the one on the left or right lol. Try both! :P
