New to Audi, want to buy A4
Hello everyone!
As the title says, I am new to the audi world and came across this forum to ask for help. I am looking to buy an Audi A4, probably the 2001 model, maybe even the 1999. Im looking at some cars with mileages around the 70k-90k. I know Japanese cars(as I am coming from an Acura CL) are still good for these kind of mileage but do not know about this European car.
How long can I expect this car to last if maintained well?
Any information about common issues/problems with this A6 car?
Any info would be great, really would appreciate it!
Thank you, Alan.

As long as you keep up on maintenance, I've seen these cars last several hundred thousand miles. Now granted, maintenance won't be cheap. Also on the b5's, the timing belt needs to be replaced every 80-90k. Good luck on your search though!

the only issues ive faced is wheel bearings, they go out quicker then they should. but other then that, if you take care of the car it should last you a very long time.

I can tell you what I'd do if I could go back in time 6 months....run like a ****;-) I really WANT to love this car(01 A4 Quattro 2.8), but I'll be damned if every time I start to feel good about it something doesn't start to act up. I started to write a long bitchy post, but I'll just keep it brief and say that I personally would never recommend an 2001 Audi A4. The frequency and cost of repair has just been WAY to freakin high.

if you are willing to research and price parts and do some of your own work you can keep the price down alot. granted its still not as cheap as a honda, toyota, etc. if you take care of it it will take care of you and after driving one youll never want another car
