Hi guys, i am new to audi forums and to audi in general.I curentlyown a nissan300zx.I just had a couple questions about the 1.8t motor. i was wondering how much boost you could push on the motor/ and how many lbs does it come stock.I se people have boosted there motor and put 16lbs and just changed injectors and ecu. is this safe? how much boost can you push on stock internals. is it worth getting the quattro? do they have problems down the road? thanks for the help i want to buy one but im new to audi so i would love to learn about them ty.

 

Welcome to the board. The stock turbos in the B5s are the K03 in the 97-00 1.8t and the k03s in the 01 sport model (correct me if I'm wrong). The stock turbos are tiny so the max boost you can get out of one safely is around 23-26 psi, but the safest way to do that is a chip (apr, revo, speedtuning, giac, etc) and a boost controller if you desire or N75 race valve which can also help raise the boost a little bit. I would personally ungrade the turbo and throw some new rods in and your motor can handle a lot more power but you need quite a bit to upgrade to BT. As far as drivetrain quattro is the way to go in my opinion with a manual gearbox. Hope this helps a bit

hm well thanks for the info. i know that it will not be as fast as my z right off the bat....the reason im getting a audi is because i want a luxury car that looks great and gets good gas milage and i can still mod and make fast. um my car now is fast but it needs lots of help and i use it as a daily driver so its just not working out. i hear this car (audi a4) gets like 23-30mpg THATS AMAZING my car gets 19-22. i know that it is going to be one of these days that my car breaks down and i wont have enough money to fix it sooo sell early so i can make profit instead of selling after it breaks and losing money. heres a pic of my car right now. um i had one more question how much boost does a stock 1.8t push from factory?
