Default Need some help w/ vaccum lines

while i was puttin in my ECT sensor and spark plugs yesterday i noticed that off EVAP purge control valve there was a check valve thats way too big for the lines and cracked the ends of them plus had no clamps on the lines. so when i went to put clamps on it and somewhat shove the lines on deeper i completely forgot which way of the flow on the valve is. if anyone can help me out real quick and just take a look at theres or even post a pic of thiers for me. its for a 99 1.8T Quatro, i think someone put the wrong piece in it simply because the valve is way to big for the lines. thx for your guys help
