Ok soo I'm pretty positive its not the coilpacks, ACTUALLY I think i know what it is now pretty simple from what it looks like too haha I do have an exhaust leak so im pretty sure thats why I have the CEL again it went away for awhile and probably came back randomly when I started the car, the reason its flashing is the alternator belt seems to be chirping?? and is the tensioner for that supposed to move at all?? ive never actually looked but I would think no haha also thanks for the vag-tool link thats pretty awesome to have a bookmark of

EDIT: called my dad says its probably that tensioner going out, my timing belts coming up anyways so ill just do that while im at it.

so the reason you think its flashing is because the alternator is chirping? Oh my...GL

well not the alternator is chirping but the belt I think it might be losing tension and losing slight power becase if i give it gas it pretty much stops flashing, the other lights dim also unless im on the gas so it makes sense right? feel free to tell me if you think im wrong lol

i was having the same problem so i took it to autozone and they ran a scan, but the scan came back and said that all cylinders are missfiring

an accessory belt isnt the cause of a flashing CEL. a flashing CEL means the engine is misfiring right now. unless your alternator is starting to seize/fail and your battery is dead, that is probably not related to the CEL. get the codes scanned.

yea it was a stupid hypothesis, after looking at it I said, **** it and drove it to autozone got the code scanned, was a p1136 which was something to do with a failed maf, my gfs dad cleared the codes and now it runs like it used to now, as to what caused it idk but thats what im waiting for the CEL to come back on. now I have a diffrent problem though lol my Alternator, when warmed up the voltage regulator decided it was on strike. so I took it to schucks where I bought the stupid thing ( bad idea in the first place) they are going to order me a new one tomorrow ive taken that alternator out so many times now I can do it in 10 mins lol anyways, the original problem is solved for now.

p1136 / 17544 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Add): System too Lean

that means the computer is (adding) Fuel to bank 1 [theres only 1 bank on a 1.8t] because its reading too lean.

you probably have a leak somewhere. and clearing the code definitely didnt solve the misfire problem, you will probably have the same code again in a few days. hopefuly you were misfiring because of poor voltage and not because you were running so lean. its very bad for the car to run super lean to the point of misfiring.

haha yea on the print out autozone gave me says that, says probable cause - low fuel pressure, vaccum leak on engine , failed h02s, i drove it a bit though ran fine, drove from tacoma to seattle fine until I realized the voltage was all the way at 16. once I get the new alternator ill see how it runs new one should be here in a few hours but I wont have time to put it in until tomorrow. Anywho ill keep an update as to how it goes
