Default Need help with rims

planning on getting some 18" in my 1998 audi a4 2.8 v12

its all stock but im getting h&r full suspension kit for a 1.25" inch drop. was looking at rims but i need to know the offset, lugnut size, and what kind of rims and tires would fit. i went to 2 local shops who hassled me constantly about financing today for new rims and also wanted to charge me 30 dollars to get all the sizing and measurements for me.

can anyone help?
all i know is that 18" x 8" rims would fit perfectly but i need the other info. ie: offset, lugnut measurements, etc..

some help would be very helpful and save me 30 dollars thanks.

and don't worry, im not going chrome. hypersilver/ machined is the only way to go. something simple as well.

on a side note: do u recommend ebay rims?

Bolt pattern is 5X112 for our cars.

If your going for 18X8 - the correct size tires would probably be 235/40/18.

As for offset, most wheels usually come with the usual 35 offset. This would be a decent/good offset to have. Although if you want more aggressive look, you need to start looking at lower offsets.

hey man ive been reading a lot of your posts man. i definitely like ur outlook on b5's. i was gonna pass on ebay and prolly go for something more legit. but does every car have a different offset? someone said get 35+ offset. i mean is there a difference? what does it affect? does it affect the callibration? the site im looking at has rims at 18" x 8" with an offset of 35 or 47. what would u suggest? was gonna get these
http://shop.achtuning.com/hartmann-h...olkswagen.aspx

also was gonna invest on Koni coilovers suspension. get it dropped about 1.25"
u thinks that is wise considering i didn;t want my audi slammed. my friend has his audi lowered with 19's and he says his wheels come up and knick under his fenders. i don't want that. i don't drive crazy or race....but i do live in So Cal where there are plenty of speed bumps and dips...i was aiming for mainly comfort and stability when driving. is 1.25" too little, not enough? u know what i mean? i wanted the drop without sacrificing ride-ability.

ur advice is much appreciated .

hey man thanks a lot for the tires size. definitely save me some sweat. when u say aggressive look? what do you mean? i was getting koni coilovers for my ride so it will have about a 1.25" drop already. im just worried my tires and rims will stick out too wide..seen a beemer on the freeway who looked like that...gave me ******* goosebumps. what i wanted to make sure as well was that my calibration was close as possible to the audi standards so actual parts in my car weren't negatively affected by increasing the rim size and replacing tires..again, thanks for the info. much apprciated.

18x8 is great, and anywhere from a 35 to 38 offset is fine. Our lug bolts are 14x1.5 for diameter and pitch, and stock length is 27-28mm. 235-40 tires fit fine but you'll have a little error in your speedometer - just keep it in mind. The closest to stock rolling diameter is 225-40 but I'd do the 235s just for the extra grip. I have 19x8s with 235-35-19 tires and I'm lowered 2.5" - I rub on some highway dips but I've pressed the fender lips up - a must in my situation.

Take a look in the classifieds here and also the wheel classifieds on www.vwvortex.com - lots to choose from regardless of your budget. And AF is AudiForums
