Why? Because a fwd A4 is ugly and useless? What you say is ridiculous for so many obvious reasons. What a snobby thing to say...

Of course quattro is preferable for most, but what about for people who like the A4 body style but do not wish to have the added functionality, weight, componentry and reduced mpg of an awd drivetrain? Some people actually think that an extra 3 axles, diff, 4 control arms (ball joints and bushings to go with them,) etc. spells more money in maintaining and owning a vehicle. Because it does. I'm not defending my personal choice for front trak ( I have a subaru, too)... I'm just saying awd is not for everyone and for some very legitimate reasons.

Then again, a truely practical person on any sort of buget wouldn't be looking to buy an Audi in the first place.

If you are going from a jeep to an Audi, you won't see much of a difference in the money pit department asside from improved mpg. That is the hard truth which I spent about 4 years in denial about-and I do all the work on my car. Had I needed a mechanic or actually had to take it to the dealer I would have had to claim bankruptcy 6 times by now.
