Default Are my main bearings in their way out?

2001 a4 1.8t tip

Recently I was getting ready to leave in the morning for school (about 50 degrees out), and started up my car, but had to run back inside to grab a book. When I came back out, I noticed a rattling/knocking/metallic gurgle coming from the front of the car. I looked under, and heard it coming from the oil pan area, but everything looks fine, oil level is good and I haven't gotten any warnings from the car. I did have to take care of the oil sludge in November when I bought the car (which I drove about a mile with the pressure light on because the stupid service guy said it was a low level light and the owners manual was on my desk at home) and haven't had an issue till now. The noise is similar to if you put metal BBs in a coffee can and rolled it down a driveway. Also if I get the rpms up when first driving (4-5k) and let engine braking occur, the car makes a somewhat resonant noise in the engine bay when coming down the rpm range. Think of an F1 car thats slowing down. Any one have any ideas?

Also all the issues disappear when the car warms up

In the first 15-20 seconds when hes letting off the gas and the engine shutters (or whatever term works) is the sound im getting but any time i run the car past 4K

Good job searching sir

Anyway 12,000 miles later no main issues

If I recall correctly, everyone was saying (it could be anything) and upon further inspection, I thought it was my water pump. End result it was the alternator on its way to failure of all things. Use a stethoscope to pinpoint it, 12v engines are dead reliable

Yeah I find it a blow to my ego if I have to ask questions here because I should be able to figure this **** out by myself. I don't mean to bring up an old thread but its better than the posts that are like this:

LOELZ MY CAR WONT START! HELP PLZ URGENT I NEED TO SEE MY DEALER B4 HE LEAVES NEXT WEEK LOL
