That is a control arm bushing. Kinda like 2 balloons rubbing together? It will only get worse and there is no way to lube it and stop the noise.
To fix it you need to replace the entire control arm - Audi does not sell the bushings separate because it takes so much work to press them into the arm.
Take it to a Euro car mechanic and be prepared for $300 bill. Its a common problem with the A4. I've had 2 go bad on my 98.5

go to www.ecstuning.com
they have a full 8 piece replacement set for $450 or something. Don't buy from the dealer or you will get seriously raped.
There are four arms on each side (in the front). The usual one that goes bad in the front is the lower rear. This tech might help you out...
Tech article
But it's hard to tell which one it is sometimes - look for a busted rubber bushing cover - or have someone press down on the front end of the car (the corner that squeeks) and have your head down to listen. If you happen to have a stethescope (yeah I know... ) you can place it on the arms and see which one sounds louder - thats pretty much how the dealer find out which on it is.
someone might want to sticky this post...
cheers
