My Audi wont start after......
Hey guys, im only new to this specific car forum, as i said in my intro on the main forum page.
Car: 2000 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro Wagon
Anyways, here i go:
Before Hand my car works and ran great for many many miles with out a cinch of an issue. I hit somebody in the back as i took my eyes off the rode to turn off the heater and change stations and what not......it was a low speed hit, just bent the hood and cracked the radiator support and the radiator started leaking.
Fine, got a rad support at a junkie from a 99 a4, and a rad from a 2000 passat 1.8T ok...got the parts and of course another hood from aftermarket which cost me a surprising $130. Today i removed the bumper and the condenser(but did not disconnect the lines), took out the support and rad. Put in the the new rad and support and put all the electrical stuff back and everything.( as a side not, just want to ask when i removed the support, it has the tubing needed to go from the turbo to the intercooler, and in it, about 3-4 punces of what seemed to be motor oil came out, IS THIS NORMAL??????)
SO anyways, now my car wont start. At first attempt, the car turned on no prob like before but cut out in like 1 second,i kept cranking but no turn over. I have two possible culprits, and just need some input from you seasoned audi fanatics. The rad has some sort of sensor with three terminals right above the lower hose, could this cause it not to start if not working? Also, the hood pin has a switch on it as well, will this kill the ignition if not closed?? Right now, the hood will not close as i have not put on the new hood, still got the bent up one on, will be doing this tomorrow, its raining here now.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. And excuse the long question but just wanted to give you guys all the facts, thanks.
I've been a car fanatic since 16, so cars are in my blood, this is just my first audi..........

motor oil is in the intercooler and hoses is normal.
there is no kill switch on or around the hood, it would start regardless if hood is open or closed.
The sensor your talking about would not cause the car to start and stall.
I bet you have an open intake line close to or not being connected to the hard tubing from turbo to intercooler. as it seems like the same symptom I had when I forgot to connect my tip to my turbo. it started then stalled.
check your pressure hoses, carefully, from airbox, all the way to the throttle body and make sure it is all connected and connected tightly with no holes or leaks.

Hey thanks there teeter, i will check that out. The only hose i recall removing for this install is the hard one, obviously, and the one from the intercooler to the TB. But i will check everything out today and bring results later on......

I know this may sound obvious, but after that did you try disconnecting the battery again to reset the ecu? I had the radiator support off my car this weekend and when I put it back together it wouldn't start. I unplugged the battery and checked the fuses (all fine) and then reconnected the battery and it started right up. *shrugs* Go figure.
