Default My A4 went pooof and died.....Help

HELP!!!
I was driving, going about 74mph or so and I heard a noise go pooof, not too loud. And then the car turned off. I pulled over and it didnt crank. Its a 99.5 Audi 1.8T Auto. What you guys think it is?

Also thinking your timing belt.. Sucks I had that happen in a 1.8t jetta with 59k miles....

kill me! So how much would be to fix it? Or is it cheaper to get another engine? What you guys recomend?

cheaper to get a new engine i think there about $1800

I paid around 2500 to fix mine on my 1.8t jetta.

If you can find a used (but in good condition) head w/ valves and you do the work yourself, you're probably looking at $800, assuming you even have tools. But if you have it done, $2k+.

1st things first. Did you look under the hood? Is a spark plug missing (presuming you aren't diesel), which could cause the ECM to not allow engine start? Plugs can get blown out of blocks, I've seen it before in V10's.
Is there a hole in the block (throw a rod/piston)? Did the engine overheat? Did the gas line come loose? Do you have compression in each cylinder? Are all the belts in the right places?
You need 3 things to run your engine. Air, spark, and fuel. Are all 3 there? If not, why not? When you turn the crank, is the cam turning? How old is the timing belt?
What codes are showing if you have a VAG?
