Default mods for my B5......READ! ! !

soo i have this completely stock 01' a4 1.8 Quattro 5 speed. I want to make some mods and have some for starters in mind but wanted someone elses opinion, suggestions, and just comments. I want to get a 3" straight pipe with a high-flow cat and a Magnaflow exhaust, not sure or not to get stainless? I was also thinking of getting the Neuspeed chip the one that u send to them and they flare it or something like that. Finally i am thinking of just getting a K&N air filter and keeping the air box, guys at Rusnak Audi told me that an intake is almost pointless other than for looks and sound...So these are the first mods I would like to do to my car, please respond to this post and let me know what you think.

3" piping is way too big...I have a friend with 3" piping to a borla muffler and it is the drone-iest car in the world....

neuspeed has a very weak tune...I would suggest GIAC or APR....

intake is ALMOST pointless, unless you want to hear your diverter valve....

you will need to replace your DV if you get a chip...710N is the cheapest way to go....

for exhaust I would suggest a HFC(labree is the cheapest) and then run 2.25-2.5" piping to a resonator and then 2.25-2.5" piping to a muffler...

I honestly dont understand having a slow *** car that makes a **** ton of noise...you will hate your exhaust after a couple days unless you get a resonator, or you are still in high school...lol

K&N is a quality product, but they tend to come over-oiled, and the oil will gum up your MAF sensor....so you may was to take a clean towel/rag to it to soak up the excess oil...

your first mod should be a boost/vac guage, so that you can monitor the health of your turbo...

then I would say do the chip an DV as soon as you can...the only problem is that once you taste a bit more power you will never be satisfied again...lol

besides that, I would do suspension and wheels before touching your exhaust....

welcome!

feel free to PM me if you have any Q's

Okay so you might be new to automotive forums so heres the scoop. If you use the forums search feature, located on the toolbar just below the banner on the top- you will learn SO SO SO very much more than if you were to ask every time you had a question.
Also, always read the "FAQ" or "READ THIS BEFORE POSTING" threads usually seen 'stickied' as the first threads on the specific forum.. there is all the pertinent information you need to know before posting and it usually answers that famous first question we all have ("What can I do to make this POS fast?!").
ALSO!, yes theres more- believe it or not unless your a seasoned professional modder its more than likely that someone else has done what you want to do SO use the mod tutorial sections for guidance!- The one on the link is a collection of mods from different forums (including this forum) and DIY sites. Below are a few more that I like-
http://www.a4mods.com/
http://www.audiworld.com/tech/
https://www.audiforums.com/forum/diy-do-yourself-55/
oh and youll need these-
http://www.audizine.com/classifieds/
http://motors.ebay.com
https://www.audiforums.com/forum/archived-audi-classifieds-22/
And in the threads 'stickied' at the top of the thread page youll find a lot of links to great sites of parts vendors that are here for you.
Best part about forums- you can learn anything about your car in the comfort and nudity of your own home. Where were we without this series of tubes called the internets?
