Mobil vs Castrol

Thanks for everyone's input. I think next oil change im going to try castrol. I've been using full synthetic mobil 1 5-30w, and at times i top off with 10-30w. I have noticed though, during summer hot days, the 5-30w makes the lifters knocking more audible.

I ran Mobil 1 full syn 0w-40 in my 2.8 and I run it in muh 1.8T too, with the biggest *** filter i can fit. no complaints cept the price.

the bigest filter is k&n

since k&n puts out a **** load of flow im going to do it next in my oil change

Don't do that, it's been proven many times over that the best non-OEM filter you can buy is MANN (from NAPA).

I use Mobil 1 Conventional 5w-30 with a K&N filter and I have had no problems at all.

i have never in my life have heard of mann or seen anyone use it

Where has it been proven? I like M1 and Amsoil filters. K&N not so much because they sacrifice some filtering for flow.

I've been using M1 full synth 5w 40 with mobil filters. never any problems
i know full well not to ever use a fram filter

They're by far the most common-used filters for german cars, any half-decent mechanic uses them and they're sold in pretty much every parts store that specializes in german cars. Also if I remember correctly I bought oil and a filter from a BMW dealership for my last car and they gave me a mann filter.
