your selling your car? the ICM is a common problem with high mileage 1.8t. and ya don't trust the guys at autozone with an audi lol. they were lucky to have me take car of all the VW and Audi customers for a month b4 i quit

Question

I seem to be having a similar issue with my 2005 A4 B6 3.0 that sat on the dealer's lot for 7 months. When I got it back it had a dead battery, non-working passenger side HID, a lot of moisture in both headlights, and funky turn signals. The the car started running rough and multiple misfirings, showing # 5 as the constant.
I moved coil pack #5 to another location and again misfiring on #5. I replaced the fuel filter and sent the injectors to be cleaned. I figured that the gas has gone bad and some crap got inside the injection system. Still no joy!!!
Is the ICM subject to frequent failures? My 05 only has 27k miles on it, but as I said it sat for 7 months of neglect.
And to top it all I now have a big coolant leak once the engine is warm. Not sure if the 2 problems are related...

i dont know about B6's but 96-00 1.8t's had ICMs, 2001+ had the ICM integrated into the coil packs. i dont know why Audi would reinstate external ICMs after being phased out in 2001. also V6's have external coils and wires, no ICM.
