Default Misfire confusion?

I just did the diode and mbc setup on my 01 b5 and it was running great on 16-17psi. It really cooled off the today to high 30s and I cel popped on and was misfiring. I tracked it down to a bad coil and swapped it with a known working one. This particular coil was new about 6 months ago, but have no idea what brand it was. So im wondering was it just a fluke that it was a crappy coil or would the bad coil have some kind of relation to the new mbc and diode setup. As of right now no cels or misfires but havent taken the car out.

well, first re-gap your spark plugs since you're running more boost. ne need to be at .28, not the usual .32. the boost will blow the spark out and cause misfires. if that doesnt fix it, replace that coil

Well I swapped coils and code followed so replaced with an old(but working) coil pack and I did regap the plugs to .028 after I fixed that coil issue. It seemed fine once I switched the coil out and no codes. Must have been a crappy coil pack. Ill just pick up a few spares to have from ecs, think they are like 20 bucks.

Ya but all the stock ones are already replaced. I had to replace an aftermarket one.

are you running factory ecu or has it been chipped? i had the same issue on my 01 awm. stock ecu + intake/echaust/fmic and mbc = started blowing out coils when i hit 18psi. i replaced them with autozone coils and regapped the plugs and its been running fine just since.

No it's not chipped. I replaced the coil and I'm gonna order a couple spares from ecs just so I have em on hand. Might actually just keep one in the car just incase.
