melting lenses
ok so i bought another set of hids yesterday. the question that i have is will 2 sets in one headlight melt the lenses if there both on at the same time? this is only possible because i have a 99 2.8 and the fog lights are built into the head lights so i already have the low beams and didnt like the yellow dot from the fogs.

RE: melting lenses
I can't say for sure because all the dual HID setups using them in fogs and headlights have been on post-facelift models. I wouldn't think you'd melt them but I won't say for sure because I haven't seen it done. Sorry I can't help more

I never had a problem with it (unless that's what cooked one of my bulb). Even in my avatar, that's the OEM reflectors using a 6000k kit. I've switched over to depo lights now, but to my knowledge, I haven't seen any failures in the reflector housings, whether on my Audi or on other cars that I've used them in.

I see where you're coming from. I think you're right about the legality, but I guess our local law enforcement isn't educated about that (believe me, they have plenty of time around here to harass car owners). Maybe in the case of my A4, they didn't question it because it was an Audi, but they never said anything about the HIDs in my 93 Prizm either (I'm probably the only one to ever put HIDs in a Prizm lol). I didn't get highbeamed by anyone, but most local drivers around here are asleep anyhow.
That being said, I think you're right about your points on why not to do it.

RE: melting lenses
yeah i dont have a problem now with them as my low beams blinding people on the road. do you mean though that if i put them in the fog lights that it will blind people because of not having a shutter to reflect the light into a different angle? if so is there a way that i would be able to angle them down so i would be able to put them in
