technically speaking they share the same block designation. old 1.8t/2.0 blocks are all considered 058, which is why you need a crank from an 058 2.0 block to put into a 1.8t 058 block. the newer 1.8t/2.0 blocks are considered 06a, so you need a 06a 2.0 crank if you have an 01 audi. 1.8t and 2.0 blocks (at least newer 06a style) are remarkably similar. it take a very good eye to tell the difference. the heads on the other hand are incredibly different, although they share the same overall footprint.

this brings up another idea. why not just use the 2.0 block? it has been done before but from what i understand not all the coolant holes on the block will match a 1.8t head. im pretty sure 034 or ina did that build, but it isnt cost effective for the average guy.

Wouldn't the compression of the 2.0 block be different from the 1.8t. Requiring a piston upgrade anyways? Might as well just go get the whole 06a 2.0 bottom end.

This is the same realization that I came to.

Also that was a typo by me, its 20** psi by 3600 and thats in 5th, he said it took a little longer in lower gears but it is still below 4k. I cant hit 20psi on my setup right now until like 4500rpm so its just kind of mind boggling.

Anyways, all engine building stuff has to be put on hold, one of my snow tires blew out while I was visiting a buddy 3 hours from home. Finally found a shop that had the right size tire I needed and that set me back a quick $160....

haha they look good. Something different..so hows the manual transmission treating you?..also where are you located. Im thinking of getting new bumper (rs4 style) and trying to see any shops that would do work and know what their doing. You seem to have done a lot of body work and get good prices haha..

Believe it or not I'm getting kind of bored of the flat fives

Buttttt I know if I sold them I'd regret it in a heartbeat so I'm either turning them into winters or selling them to my brother so they stay in the family at least haha. I just hate how heavy they are, I want something light and wide.

Sold the holset thinking I didnt want it, now I'm desperate to find another and cant find one...

Other plans for before waterfest, S4 bumper is getting shaved I already picked up a donor, whole car except roof is gonna be wrapped either noggy blue, gloss white, or gray anthracite (daytona gray basically) but I cant decide which Then aero catch hood latches and a new set of wheels and it should look like a totally different car.
