massive oil leak (overnight emptied) please help
#13
The Audi gods, herein, made it possible for me to entirely rebuild the top end of my beloved '96 A6 2.8 when, you guessed, it, I allowed the timing belt replacement to lapse, resulting in the ultimate, shameful injury! While I probably could have done the job without this Forum, it saved me hours and hours of outside consultation and great tips and tricks! I hate to pay someone else to do what I might do and, most of the time, this personal value works, saving thousands of repair dollars. The AudiForums, makes this all the more possible! I'm sure your A4 came with an undercarriage plastic shield, which does effect cooling airflow under the car and up in the engine compartment, let along some nominal protection against such insults as what your oil filter/ oil cooler unit suffered. It's a pain to take off and put on when changing oil, but it is there for a purpose. Send more pics of the repair and a report on the overall health of that motor. We're all hoping that no fatal harm befell it due to oil loss. . .
