Default Making progress on my polished intake manifold

After doing nearly nothing with my hands during my 9 months in the Czech Republic, I've been itching to work on a project.

So why not get back to polishing that intake manifold I purchased 2 years ago?

I've still got a decent amount of work to do, lots of scratches to still take out. I need to get into the small areas around the manifold flange and around the TB area as well.

Most people opt not to polish the flange or the backside, but I've got time to kill so why the hell not. I probably won't put as much work into the backside, but I've already gone over it once.

More pictures to come soon.

(The pictures look fine on my monitor, but let me know if they are too large to view easily and I'll resize them.)

Looks great man. When you finish up, use vernier's rouge applied with a reinforced flannel wheel, and follow that with white polish on a loose flannel wheel. Wash with soap and water, and hit it with some type of polishing compound from Advance, like F1 nano-polish. Ends up crystal clear

Thanks! I'll check it out.

When I finish the manifold I've got a spare valve cover to start working on next.

I toyed with this idea for a while, but in the end I've just made peace with the fact that I'm too ******* lazy lol. I did a catch can about the size of a pounder beer can and it took me 3 days and I wanted to kill myself. Lots of respect for you and Jeremy and Tyler and the other guys who actually do big pieces like this! When I do my turbo I'm gonna go with some kind of paint or wrinkle coating.

Haha, laziness seems to be a recurring theme for you.

It's one of those things that you can be really proud of when finished because it takes so long.

This is my first big polishing job so I'm taking my time, but I've got about 11 hours into it so far I think. I'm about to head downstairs and get back to work.

Put another hour in and got most of the rest of the casting marks removed. The runners are smooth as a baby's bum now.

I'm thinking about getting it media blasted though...would save me a lot of time and would even everything out nicely.

Anyone know the average price to get the manifold and valve cover blasted?

I don't, but when I polished the manifold on my 300ZX, I spent about 75 hours doing the whole thing by hand with a mouse sander. Tedious as hell but worth it. I used several grits of sandpaper, followed with scouring pads and steel wool, then the rouge and white polish, and it came out looking ****. You can do the same and you'll be very happy with the results. Sorry about the crappy pics - had a RAZR phone back then.
