Default MAF grate screen thingy...

Do people w/ turbo upgrades ever pull that out? I know it has something to do with reading the flow or something, but if you are running a dif setup you've already changed the flow right? So has anyone tried pulling it out to make the airflow less restrictive? I'm mainly asking for AEB motors

I'm talkin about this thing.

I've never heard of anyone ripping that out. I have seen many run a 3" VR6 MAF on older A4s and MAFless on '01s for BT setups.

You should not take out the screen on any MAF in any vehicle. The screens on the front and back are there to provide a more laminar flow over the hot wire so that it can get an more accurate reading. Removing the screens only increases turbulent flow and can disrupt readings.

You'd think they'd make an aftermarket part that was open on the sides and grated just in the center or something..

It may not be "bad", but your car's A/F might be slightly off because of it at times.
