RE: lots of serious problems and need help!!
i will for sure do that. I went to replace the fuel filter last night and first realized that NAPA sold me the wrong part and second i didnt realize how hard it was to replace it by having to take off the tank straps and what not...
Is there an easier way to drain the gas without taking the tank down? I unhooked the fuel line in the engine and tried to prime the tank by turning the key and i only got half a gallon out that way. then i tried to get a siphon and go in through the gas cap and i didnt get much out that way either? so im just hoping i dont have to drop the tank, but on the bright side it only has like 2 gallons in it so it wont be heavy.

I don't know for sure about the A4, but many cars have drain plugs on or near the bottom of the tanks, which would make it a lot easier. I'm not sure but you may be able to put something into the tank to break down the resinated varnishes that can happen when fuel sits a long time. A parts place may be able to help you with that, if such a product exists. You might benefit from replacing rubber fuel lines as well, and to really do it up, you could have your injectors reverse-flushed to make sure there's nothing in them. At the very least, do a Seafoam treatment on the car once it's up and running - search the forum and you'll find tons of threads about it.
