Lost my key....

The good news is they can use your VIN# to cut a new key.
Some dealers offer the same price as ECS. If you can, call around and see what the dealers in your area are asking. You might be able to negotiate with them if you mention another dealer asking a lower price.
I paid just under $125 for my key (and fob) from a dealer. I think valet keys are $60-70

This is what i did..
I went to the dealshhip and paid like $130 to have them cut the flip style key. ECS does sell them cheaper but they "ship in 1-3 days" i think, so you are prob going to wait 8 buisness days or so to get it. It may be worth it to just pay the extra 20 bucks or whatever.
HOWEVER, if you have a 2001, it may get tricky. They installed immobilizers on half of the 2001 model year. I think it was the second half, so if you have a 2001.5 a4 you are going to have to get it "coded" to your car. The dealership told me that would cost about 2hrs of labor at $115 an hour (**** that all day ).
Don't even let them program it for you either, they will charge you an hour of labor to perform a simple procedure. There are plenty of DIY's out there. You just need the valet key.
hope it helps

Alright after 3 days of searching i finally found my key and you guys wont believe where i found it. Found it inside the freezer lol it was inside my milkshake that i bought. My 2 year old prolly tossed it in the cup before i stored it. Anyway now this leads me to another question. Now my remote doesnt work anymore since it prolly been soaked for 2 days. Can i buy that fob and program myself? Thanks alot. Really appreciate all your help.

Congrats. I would take the back off, take out the battery and hit it with the blow dryer. Hopefully it works again when it dries out. If I were you I would get a spare just in case
When I type in key fob they only show flash drives and license plate frame. I can't find how much a spare key would be.
