Unhappy Loss in Power! Any ideas?

So today I decided to get a k&n short ram intake along with a resonator delete... Sounds sooo nice I gotta say... But I also noticed its not as strong as before. This bothers me because I thought I did everything right... What could it be? Could it be the hot air that the k&n is sucking up? Or could it be something else... I seen good reviews for the k&n intake so I dont know what could be the problem

Hot air! A lot of people fab up heat shields because of this. The k&n kit puts ur filter like a foot away from the cat and even closer to the manifold.

Don't believe the anecdotal reports on the K&N, it won't do diddly for your engine. Unless you're wedded to the look and/or like the extra noise, put the factory intake back on.

God damn it... I knew it... I ordered the intake online so I dont think i wanna go through the trouble of returning it so is there some thread somewhere on how to build your own heat sheild?

The trouble? It's probably more trouble to try and fab something up. Email the company, put the intake in the box it came in, throw an address on there and you're done.

They are right though, but I like how mine looks, I moved the filter over with two 90 degree pieces, so mine sits as far as possible from the heat and I used existing bolts holes to mount a heat shield I made, its not that hard imo

I just used some decent gauge sheet metal and cut it to fit, my approach was more for function not looks as far as the heat shield went.

i cut up and fabbed my own heat sheild today... i have to say its a pretty good heat sheild but still... no gain in power... i tried everything... i tried adding a air duct from the bottom of the car going up to the filter but its still lacking power i had with the stock air box.... so im gonna take the K&N Short ram kit out and return it... :/

Yup, good move; those Audi engineers weren't so dumb after all.
