Default losing coolant.

so i was low on coolant about a month ago i would say, went and bought some, filled it to the max. now its about back to where it was when i added. i don't think its burning it, theres no smoke, and theres none on the ground after its been parked running or not. i can't see any visible leaking, any ideas i heard where it comes out of the rear of the block is a trouble spot? any ideas.

i'd check for white/pink crust around the coolant area. if you don't find anything, check your oil dipstck for foamy stuff on it, check the oil cap too. if you don't find anything, you're headgasket is leaking

If he doesnt find anything in the oil, it's leaking you say?
Isn't that contradicting?
Maybe some kind of airing valve has popped open and is leaking at high temperatures.. happened once with my old car.

Look on the very back side of the motor. Just in front of the firewall. Most of the time it leaks onto the transmission and not onto the ground. Also look on the front side of the motor near the bottom. It should look like pink and white crusty foam.

well heres the thing guys i followed the first line from the bottom of the expantion tank to radiadtor, no pink crusty stuff near there nor on the ground since it would be a pretty straight shot. i looked at all of the connections i could find, then i followed the line from the rad, to the rear of the block, im not sure since its been sort of wet here if theres any on the tranny anyone know where or what that part is called on the back of the motor. since i think thats probably the problem do they go bad after a while my cars got 120k on it. does that sound about right.

The hoses connecting to the coolant tank, as well as the tank itself often form leaks and will not leave residue behind. If your oil looks fine then you have an external leak somewhere - you just need to find it.

Burning coolant smells kinda sweet.

there is a residue on the transmission and i the smell is what tipped me off to this in the first place, does anyone know the part name or number in the back of the block? im pretty sure thats whats leaking. although at idle i can't see any drip theres the residue and i think even some coolant sitting on it. where is the heater core ill check that too.

heater core should be somewhere in the middle of the dashboard. not for certain on our cars, but i know most cars this is a common problem if no other leaks are found. sometimes you can tell simply by moisture in your car if its alot. you can usually smell it through your air vents.
hopefully someone else here can jump in with the exact location of the heater core
