Lol.. so i take it 19" rims are not a smart choice? Both of your responses are very vague but i appreciate you taking the time to reply.. i have 18" Flix rims currently and was thinking about goin up in size. But if its not in my best interest then i guess ill search for different 18s.. neither of you actually answered my question of where i might be able to find a good deal on rims and tires.. thanks for your input, but if u are just goin to post ur opinion and not answer the original question then youre not much help. Anyone else out there that can actually be helpful with my search for quality 18"! rims at a good price, i appreciate your input. Thanks..

Craigslist would probably be the best place for good wheels. looks for some nice oem audi wheels, bbs, OZ, AMG wheels always look good and can be bought for pretty cheap. Tires can be found on CL also but you can always run Kumho ast, or falkin 512s which are on the cheaper side.
You can run 19s on YOUR car but i just think they look way to big on a4s. 17s look great on a4s, as do some 18s, s4s need 18s and can pull off the 19s since they have the skirts and front bumpers which hang lower giving the illusion of more space in the fender well.
and i hope you are lowered while running 18s... suspension first if that hasnt been done.
knowing your relative location helps as well so we can find some local deals to you on CL.

For what it's worth I've had 16-19" wheels on my A4 and while 18s functionally were the best, it was because of tire size. My 19s came with 235s and that combined with the offset (+37) meant that my front tires hit the fender on bumps (I'm lowered 2.5"). If I had 225s, they'd have just tucked in on compression. Style-wise though, I loved the 19s, although they definitely were big, and the ride quality on 225-40-18 tires vs 235-35-19 tires was virtually identical. I expected the 19s to ride noticeably harder but I honestly couldn't tell a difference.
In my sig, the dark wheels are 18" Flik Wasps and the five-spokes are 19" TSW Volcanos. Here's a couple other, larger pics.
18s
19s
For what it's worth, the combination of the size and the style (I love a clean 5-spoke wheel) made the TSWs my favorites. They were very well-received at our meets and out in public in general as well. A lot of whether it looks good or bad will depend on the fitment and style of the wheels as well. With regard to the post above saying an S4 can pull off 19s due to the skirts, there's merit in that - I think my 19s would've looked awkward if I hadn't painted my lower trim. If you try to stretch and poke 19s, it'll look retarded. Set the car up right and it'll look good.
And just to prove that doing suspension makes a ton of difference, here's my car on a stock S4 suspension with 18s:
Looks OK but look at what lowering did for NickBroderick when he was running 17" Mercs:
I prefer 18s to 17s on an A4 any day, but looks-wise, his car on 17s killed mine on 18s. Suspension is important if you want to look right.
