IT LIVES AGAIN WHAHAHAHAHAHaaaa!!!
Ok so finally my 98 a4 1.8t quattro is on the road again after i think a little more than a month. original issue was the oil pressure sensor failed.. as did the oil pump.. as did a clogged oil pickup (ok no proof it caused issues but it was nasty) so we replaced all those.. as well as other parts damaged in the ensueing carnage of a motor starved of oil.. grr....
so we got it put together after a new oil pump, head, a few gaskets, cleaned the tube, new pvc hoses, timing belt, water pump, thermorstat, test pipe.. blah bla... started driving it around and felt something wasn't right.. 2 hours later.. it started knocking real bad so we towed it back home. my brother and i decided screw this motor.. and got online, we hunted down a motor with 35k less miles than my current one, certified good, with a 6 months warranty for roughly 1200. soooooo he took the 10 hour round trip venture and got it for me (i had to watch my daughter) and did the swap on saturday.. sunday morning he took it for a test drive and now i have it back. stronger than ever... and sounds nice with the test pipe. today it goes in for tint and then time to save for a new (slightly better) turbo and a lowering kit.
oh and i'll be posting pics up today of the car.. when we got it. since I am actually on a computer vice my phone. it feels nice to have it back.. moreso since we are getting freezing rain today.. and 2 feet of snow over the next two days.

you dotn have to be a the original owner!
and if there is no services records they still reimburse you 50%, if there is services records, its 100% there's no down side for you!!
some people on here received the letter about this that were 2nd and 3rd owners.(i dont think you need the letter) im pretty sure it works just like a recalled part.

The listing was on ebay but the shop was in iowa city iowa. They buy salvage cars and pull parts... i got to see a video of the engine running prior to them pulling it. Then we drove and picked it up. 6month warranty and certified inspected. I post the link later
