Default Life expectancy of 1997 A4 2.8 Quatro

I'm purchasing this vehicle from my dad and it has 164925 miles on it. He says its in good condition and has had it checked out by a mechanic. I will be taking it to the Audi dealership for verification and need to hear from other A4 owners regarding any issues they've had. I need it to last at least one more year before replacing it.

Yes! Except if it has an automatic trans. Those tend to suck. But the rest of the car is good for a solid 300K miles with good maintenence.

Change the oil with good synthetic and keep after the suspension and the timing belt and every so often clean that damn iac and throttle body . I'm very happy I picked up a 2.8 even if it's the 12v .

Not to stray, but what is the iac again? I don't believe I'm familiar with that acronym...

Forever. Seen them with 500,000 on the clock with the original motor in it.

My control arms are starting to go... and just when I'd rather stick $400 into a fund for my lows.

damn dealership quoted me $1600 in parts for whole front end and around 1200 for labor. DAMNNNN imagine how much it would cost for the whole car??? anyways so i found a nice kit on the web with 12 pieces and i friend who would install it all in a day for cheap. FMY if i pay over 4k for control arms
