I hear ya there man. I just had to pay $450 for an Audi dealer to replace a coolant hose to my turbo because I happened to break down near the place and it would have cost more to tow the car back to my house than it would to pay them to fix it.

Welp its been awhile...I do apologize....Stupid me fucked my car up again lol...I drove up on a curb late at night, was dark and I couldnt see lol...pushed over a sign and when i went to back up the sign chopped up my Rad, Condessor, secondary air pump, and front support lol o.O

Did all the work with Sean and Myself. About 500 dollars in parts lol I will have photos of that soon from the ipad.

But for now I need to know where the oil cooler is located if it has one...

The oil cooler is the squarish metal thing between the engine block and your oil filter with two rubber coolant lines clamped onto it. Why do you ask?

Welp....I'm trying the process of elimination with my oil temp issue and my loss of oil issue. No leaks(major) no burning or smoking....and I had to add three quarts of oil the other when I heard my motor tapping. Dipstick was clean. I'm thinking I have a blockage somewhere and it over flowing into something some how some way. I have lots of oil in my intake tube..more than your normal. So I'm thinking maybe it'll slowly pouring into that and going into my intake system. I do smell oil, not sure I'd call it burning smells, but something. My oil temps are realllllyyyy low like 150-175 low...and never ever gets higher. So I'm thinking its blocked and sloooowwly passing oil through or none at all. But then again I am thinking I'm stupid because the oil temp sensor is on bottom of oil pan.

Oil in the intake makes me think leaking oil seals in the turbo, but if that was the case you'd be burning oil and making lots of smoke.

You might also check the oil pump pickup in the pan to make sure it isn't clogged.

I'll be interested to hear the comments on how to drop or change the oil pan on the 1.8. I think you need to jack the motor up from the top.

You support the motor and drop the subframe on one side and pull the motor mount out. Other than that its not that difficult.

my fan idea lol duh ;-)... the oil pickup blockage would not explain the dip stick being dry and needing to add 3 quarts of oil though.

i tried to look in the coolant overflow but didn't show signs of oil floating around.
