Let's talk FMICs

Side mount be a good way to go mild sleeper. Has me my interest peeked. I like not drawing attention and then waxing the rice.

You should note that if all you are doing is installing an FMIC (or aftermarket SMIC for that matteR), the gains will be minimal. The real gains are with FMICs come when you up the boost. The reason you should upgrade an intercooler is really so that you can up the boost without creating cylinder temps that will create detonation. You will see some gains, but nothing that great.

You dont really gain power anything when upgrading the SMIC or going to a FMIC, basically you just end up retaining the power that is usually lost when the stock SMIC heat soaks. Upgrading from the stock SMIC even with a K03 is well worth it if you are chipped because the tiny K03 puts out air that will have a very high temps. The IAT's from a K03 are actually much higher then a BT running the same amount of boost. The reason a FMIC is needed for a BT is because the amount of air it moves is way too much for the stock SMIC, so at that point it is about air volume(CFM).
Now if you are able to tweak your tune by adding more timing or more boost when adding a FMIC then you will gain some power.

Actually that is not 100% true because there is a limited amount of space in the SMIC location. There are a few FMIC kits out there that need no cutting/trimming to fit behind the stock B5 A4 bumper when it comes to the needs of a k03/K04/GT28r.
