Let's talk FMICs
Hey guys,
So I will be chipping my car sometime in May/June. I'm probably getting a GIAC chip with a forge DV valve. Anyways, I was thinking about getting an FMIC after I get my chip but I have some questions.
Would it be stupid to get and FMIC before doing my exhaust?
Regardless, what kind of performance gains can I expect from an FMIC? Hp gains?
And lastly, how much can I expect to spend assuming I do all the labour myself and don't mind hunting around for cheap parts.
Thanks a lot!

SO I just found the 150$ FMIC DIY... https://www.audiforums.com/forum/diy-do-yourself-55/finally-%24150-fmic-diy-45643/
That's pretty badass lol. How much hp gain could I expect from that?

I'm not sure about exact number, but I know that when I did mine that I feel a lot more in the low end...You will definitely notice a difference. Having a FMIC is worth it on any turbo set up IMO. When you say exhaust, are you talking about turbo back, or cat back?

So I will see low end gains, got it. Good on any turbo setup, got it. DIY im probably looking at like 150-300$...kit around 800$...
As far as exhaust I meant any exhaust whatsoever. Right now I have the stock exhaust.
My order of operations here is gonna be: Chip/DV, intake...then either FMIC or exhaust. I'm not sure whether to go cat back or turbo back, is it worth it to do the whole thing? Should I do my exhaust before my FMIC?
Thanks!

if you have zero plans of going bigger turbo in your future i would skip the fmic if i were you... too much hassle getting the bumper to fit and having to shave it and what not. not a good enough gain to warrant a k03 IMO

Good point, you will lose a little bit of lb by doing a fmic, but most of the guys who do them end up going bt or have a chip. Its up to you what you want to do. A side mount upgrade would be a good option also. Doing a front mount isnt an hour job to make it look right, ya know? are you going to go BT in the future?
