Default Keyless Entry Problems

Ok, so I can program my keyless remote, however it only stays programmed for a couple hours. After a few hours I cant use my remote unless I re-program it. Any ideas on what to do?

1st. Replace battery in remote
2nd. disconnect car battery and touch + and - leads together. It will reset the comp. I had this problem on my wifes passnot and that fixed it.

Default Touched Pos and Neg battery leads

I touched pos and neg battery leads to reset the comp. It didn't do anything except reset my comp/trip meter. I programmed my remotes and they stay programmed for a couple hours, however I can only use them if I'm within a couple feet of my car. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm thinking of going aftermarket...any suggestions for a 96 A4?

Do you have one problem or two now?

Regarding the short range, this is on all audi's and is due to the position of the antenna for the remote. Depending on the angle, it may only work from 5 feet away.

There have been several reported fixes including primarily moving the antenna wire for the remote, or extending it with more wire and then running it under the rear bumper
