K&N Performance Intake: Worth it?
Is it worth it to put a K&N performance intake (http://store.knfilters.com/search/pr...x?Prod=57-0515) on a '97 A4 2.8?

i got mine for ~180 shipped from amazon!
you wont notice a huge power increase, and maybe just a couple MPG better but it sounds way better (if you got exhaust), throtle response improves as well, and a lil bit wider powerband...

If it's the 57i kit, I have it on my 97 2.8. It's alright and sounds good. I guess it was worth buying.. Don't expect any power increases. I got mine on ebay brand new for like $100 but now I guess they're more expensive..

You could just go a cheaper way and get one of the cheap intake kits off ebay and put a k&n cone on it.

I made my own and saved a few $$$ since I believe its really for sound only and hp is so minimal at times. Course the sound with a turbo that is as well. .
Yes I know this was on my Saab but I wanted a heat shield to get rid of that heat soak problem.

Like the previous posts said...you arent gonna see any massive performance increase but you will notice a difference in sound and maybe a little better throttle response.
i say go for it! you'll like the results

i haven't had any problems in the 8months (8000mi) i've had mine. just make sure you clean ur MAF every once in a while (CRC MAF Sensor Cleaner)

not only will you not see a performance increase, if you get a cone filter without a heatshield you will see a decrease in HP due to higher IATs, not to mention the K&N oil covering your MAF. if you want a cone filter get a dry one.
