Default Just purchased 96 a4 2.8 have a few problems please help!

Hello all this is my first post in this forum. Yesterday I purchased a 1996 Audi a4 2.8. It was a great price but needs some work. I know parts are very expensive for this car. My problems are "the instrument cluster the speedometer and tachometer work intermittently, sometimes they work sometimes they dont, but the odometer works all the time. Do I need a new cluster?? My second problem the drivers side window fell off the track and is in the door anyone have experience with this in 1996 a4s? Another defect is the front speakers don't work possibly need a new Audi head unit? Any engine trans maintenance ideas to keep this car running good? I'm going to replace the timing belt, water pump, serpentine belt, seafoam, new plugs, and auto trans service. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you for any help!

going throught the same cluster issue with mine. Im replacing the speed sensor today and Ill let you know how that works out. If that doesnt work then more than likely its cluster. Don't let audi charge you 3-5 hours to replace bc it takes only 5 mins to pull it out. I took mine out yesterday but couldnt find any burn marks. The maintenance that your talking about would be great to do. Plugs and wires are really easy to do, did them yesterday too, took 20 mins.

That's it. You guys both covered it all. The blown front speakers are most likely the speakers themselves but possibly the head unit. You can test by using a friend's head unit, aftermarket is fine, and just hooking it up and trying it. You clean leave the head unit hanging by the wires while testing but make sure you have the security code for your stock unit, otherwise it won't work when you plug it back in.

Make sure the speakers are plugged in. Found that on one car - the harnesses inside the doors that plug into the speakers were unplugged.
