Cool Just got my new key!

I work at a VW dealership (washing cars, oh joy...) and had the parts guys order me up a keyless entry "switchblade" key for my car yesterday - which ended up costing me about $60. Surprisingly, both the key and the transmitter were waiting for me as soon as I got to work at 8:30 this morning! But then they wanted to charge me an "employee priced" service charge of $55 to program the fob to actually work unlocking/locking my car. So I did a google search with my phone (which took roughly 15 seconds), found the procedure, and did it myself. The entire procedure, including the google search, took me maybe at most 2 minutes. I couldn't help but laugh a bit - 95% of people would have just been like, "Damn that sucks. Oh well, I need the key to work, right?" and let them program it for half a century note, but a simple google search and 2 minutes of labor later my key is working perfectly.
Kind of a random useless story, but I thought it was funny. $55? Please.
And I had completely forgotten how nice having keyless entry is. When I bought my A4 it only came with one key, which was just a plain-old standard key.

its like how they want to charge an hour of labor to get a radio code for you. all they do is call audi HQ and give them your VIN and/or the serial from your radio and they read the radio code out of a book. that cant take more then 2 minuits, but they still charge you $120 for an hour of work.

programming the key is so easy cant believe they wanted $55 for it. 2 minutes seems like too long even.

-stick key in ignition
-turn accessories on
-while in ignition and on hold unlock button for 15 seconds
-take key out and put in door
-lock with key
-while in door, hit unlock button and it should be good to go

lol its even easier on mine (year 2000)

just stick key in door, turn right for 10 seconds, turn left for 10 seconds... windows will now go down confirming that your key fob is paired with your car!

crazzzzzy they would try ti f their own employee... (must be jealous you drive an audi!!!! ) haha

That is awsome bro, thanks for posting this story... I need a key as well, so I think I will order it and not have them program it. Will save myself a "century note".
