thats not a real k04 look at the triangle on the side where kkk should be, blank. its a more exspensive ebay turbo
edit: now that i looked, they dont even sell any real turbos. they have knockoff garretts too. you get what you pay for. if it doesnt say garrett, RP turbo, KKK, borg warner, or precision dont buy it

Their turbos are most likely just the rest of their products, made in China.
Sure there is nothing wrong with parts from China, but just not something you want to throw on your car hoping its not a ticking time bomb waiting to go off and ending up costing you 10 times the amount you paid for the turbo.
Its ok. You would be getting closer, the 2001+ would be around 132whp.

Been running a Garrett GT35r .82 turbo for 7 years now. But that should be changing next month when I take the car to Full-Race so they can make a whole new A4/Passat 1.8t manifold for the new BW EFR turbos.

damn. whenever i get some more cash, i know a local guy that builds TTs and coopers, and he's gonna rebuild my engine with me, i just buy the parts. he said since i have 183k on the clock, ill have to take it to a 2.0 anyway to get the cylinders round, i cant wait. how much should i be looking to spend for the crankshaft, rods, pistons, valves(?), and the machining?

It being cheaper doesn't make it as good. That could be a huge waste of $549 that the person would never see again in their life time.

Hard to say how much it will cost for the ABA crank, the forged ones are getting harder to find.
For JE pistons, IE rods and Supertech exhaust valves your looking at $1160. About $80 less to go Wiseco pistons. Another $690 if you want to upgrade the intake valves and valves springs/retainers to Supertech. This doesn't even include the new rod bearings, main bearings, thrust bearings, IM shaft bearing, new gaskets, seals that will be needed.
