Default just a few Q's about the 1.8t

ok guys i just got my car back from the shop. ugh that was fun..so i got a new clutch put in and new front axles and a new slave cylinder.. i cant complain to much only cost me $668.. im a lil confused tho cuz when i turn to the right the passenger side makes a like hopping noise (kinda sounds like and axle is broke) but they are both brand new so im a lil lost as to what the noise actually is.

now another Q's does anyone happen to know the quarter mile times of the 1.8t quattro stock? all i have done is an intake.. before i got the clutch done it was a lil slow and i figured it was just cuz the clutch was slipping cuz the clutch was gone.. but now its got a new clutch and i just feel as tho an AWD turbo car should be faster then this. my friend has a 4cyl camry its newish 2000s i think.. but it keeps up with me no problem. i acually think it would beat me. but i dunno.. thanks again for the help and the input..

idk about the first question but the second one is slow! lol its a 4000 pound awd car that puts out 150 hp and 155 tq! if i had to guess on the 1/4 mile time it would be about 16 seconds

Just # wise the 01-06 camery had a 2.4L which was a 158whp to where the stock 2000 1.8 WHEEL hp would be like 140ish not to mention the camrey is lighter... Our car is fast in turns thanks to the quattro but at the same time that weight added is a huge PITA! straight line it's not a torpedo! It can be if you're mike hood tho!

If an axle is broken the car wouldn't move! I would check and make sure everything is tight or take it back to them and say hey you just did this and now something is wrong. Not to mention the price you paid was a steal! I'm looking at that just to have a clutch installed that I already bought!

The reason it's a slow turbo car is that it was originally intended as the entry-level A4, with the V6 being the fast car. The aftermarket has changed that but the aim of the 1.8T engine was to create sn efficient, small engine that was lively enough to be fun.

Only if the 2000 1.8t quattro would have 140whp stock. That would only be a 10hp driveline loss. lol

Stock the 2000 A4 1.8t quattro will be making about 117whp. That is why it feels so slow. Stock 1/4 mile is going to be in the 16's.

Even chipped the car will only be making around 150-156whp, 1/4 mile times in the low 15's to high 14's.

I own a 2000, with a custom race fuel tune I was able to run low 14's.

exactly why i promote the advantage of a K04 swap

also wanted to add that the 1.8t with quattro will weigh in the 3400 to 3600 range. auto is going to weigh more than manual.
And the B5 is lighter than the B6 and B7

k04s are a waste of money unless you have a s4. a $1000 turbo for a whopping 250hp? hahahahahaha
anyway, you might want to check out your cv joints, they have have f'd one up when they put on the new axles

is the K04 the way to go?.

whats the best bang for the buck?

K04 is a great upgrade that bolts up to a stock set up. Upgrading the exhaust is recommended. And it doesn't cost even half of the $1000.

I find them all day long in the $200 range
