just bought a 97 a4 1.8t...some questions
sup guys, start off, im not a car guy, i race motorcycles, so im probably gonna ask some stupid questions
the only time i ever hear my turbo (in a good way, not bad) is at idle, but can't hear it when im in the boost. im not lookin to go crazy on mods, but i do love the sound of a turbo boostin. any easy way to acheive that without spending money?
heres a pic of the car

For free? HA! An intake (cone filter) is the cheapest way to make your turbo more audible. Don't expect performance gains though. The stock airbox flows well and doesn't suck in the heat off the turbo/cat like an exposed cone filter does.

If your state doesn't do emisions testing/inspection, a test pipe (replaces cat) will allow you to hear your turbo more as well. Other than that, a chip will up the boost and performance. A turbo boosting 8psi sounds a lot different from the same turbo boosting 15-20psi. That aint cheap though. Read the stickies!

first thing you should do is paint your lowers but yeah, chip and cone intake will make u hear the turbo. Carbonio air intake is the expensive way to go, over $350 (is $379 sound right?)and the only thing extra it does then the cone intake is it provides you with a heatshield for the intake.

haha, yeah, i have a small list of todos from the previous owner, which include paint. but it runs great, handles great (koni coilover to boot) and what i paid for the car i really cant complain about anything...i paid more for my 91 240!
would a up/downpipe combo help too?
i might as well just go ahead and do intake, up/down, catback shouldnt i? the previous owner said it was chipped. anyway i can tell if it really is?
