Interior/gauge light questions
I am still on the hunt for the perfect a4. I have a few questions I really like the red interior/gauge lights but really like the 99.5 up cars for the fogs, headlights, tail lights etc. So a question I havent seen the 99.5 and up interior in person what did they change. I know the gauges are white but did any of the other lights change to white? I have searched and found some members have made the older red cluster white, would it be possible to do the opposite and make a white cluster red?( and still look factory not a hack/rice job?)
Thanks
p.s. anyone have any pictures of there interior at night lite up? different years but especially the 99.5 plus since i haven't seen one in person

My friend has a 99(pre-facelift) and I dont think it looks nearly as good as mine (01 facelift) I love the white gauges, and if you are still wondering, yes ALL of the lights in my car are red at night. Also, I dont know if you know this, but for the facelift models(99.5-01), there is a little red LED next to the domelights that flashes down onto the shifter and dash so you can see your hand (very dim) when you go to press a button or shift. I love that part about it. Dude, buy a facelift model, everything is WAY better.
Here are a few pics of my interior

Thanks for the pics. and no I did not know about that light pretty sweet. And yeh the white gauges look good (The red is nice too though). I am just so sick of the ugly puke Jap green my car has. I do alot of driving at night. I am pretty much set on a 99.5 + 1.8t sport 5 speed quattro ( prolly black) now to find one low in miles and clean lol

ya, for the red gauges, sometimes its hard to tell something from the other because everything is red. For the facelifts, the needles are red, but the numbers and meters are white, which stand out. Also, the facelifts have the LCD screens which are AWESOME, even though the pixels fade out when its warm. Im lucky though, my car has not gotten any dead pixels yet (knock on wood). Go with the facelift

Hmm this one doesnt look bad kinda at the upper end of what I wanted to spend but might be worth the hour and a half drive to look at sometime.

Don't be afraid to travel to find the right car. With these cars it's worth it. I was lucky and mine fell into my lap (purchased from a guy at work) but if you rule out a strong candidate just because it's a ways away and settle for a closer, lesser car, it'll very likely bite you in the ***.

There are pretty many different interior things with the dash that changed after the facelift. The entire center console is different. Changing guage LEDs would definitely be possible. I think only some facelift models used real leather for the seats too.
