Question Interesting, faint, mysterios sound from somewhere up front.

Hi Guys,

I have this interesting, faint, mysterious sound from coming from somewhere up front.

It sounds like something is loose and smacking something somewhere (almost like a loose strut tower - but much quieter). It's under/outside/in front of the cabin (I'm pretty sure). It's not very loud at all. It's not turn, stop, go, or (necessarily) bump related (although it does happen mostly on small bumps - but it's not exclusive to bumps).

Really weird, I know.

Any ideas?

Thanks

You're going to have to be a little more specific. Any chance a video could hear it?

LOL need more information...but have you attempted to open your hood and look for yourself? If it is as faint of a sound as your describing you may not need to worry about it...our cars are over 14 years old for most of us and may acquire creeks, and clunks due to their age

I wish I could be more specific, but I can't. If I had to guess: I'd say it's coming from the front passenger side wheel well. Maybe a bit further back, but it's not dependent on any specific condition (certain, slight bumps would be the closest).

Unfortunately, It's too faint to hear on video, but I know it's a new sound.

I have new tires, new tie rods (all 4 - heavy duty) and recent alignment.

Does that help any?

I probably don't need to worry about it, but I know it's new and if there's a one percent chance that it could be important, then it's worth tracking down IMO.

And no: I can't replicate the sound with the car idle/stationary.

Odd: I know.
